Your wedding morning is one of the most exciting, emotional, and fast-moving parts of the day. It’s a mix of anticipation, final touches, and a whole lot of feelings. With so much happening, the last thing you want is unnecessary stress! Whether you’re planning an intimate elopement or a grand celebration, these wedding morning tips will help ensure everything runs smoothly.
One of my favourite wedding morning tips is to have a timeline in place. Wedding mornings often start slow—pottering around with your wedding party, sipping a coffee or a glass of bubbles. Then, suddenly, it’s time to get dressed! The wedding morning timeline always goes faster than expected, so plan for more time than you think you’ll need. That little buffer can be a game-changer when things get busy.
Your getting-ready location plays a big role in how your morning feels and how your photos look. Try to choose a space with natural light and minimal clutter. If possible, opt for a bridal suite or a primary bedroom rather than a small, dimly lit room. The more open and bright your space is, the more elegant and airy your wedding photos will be.
A bit of organisation makes everything easier! Keeping your bridal suite or prep area tidy means no frantic searching for things at the last minute—and it also makes for much cleaner, more polished getting ready wedding photos. Assign someone in your wedding party to help keep things tidy (think: no plastic bags, trainers, or pyjamas lying around!). The cleaner the space, the more you will stand out in your photos
With all the excitement, it’s easy to forget about food, but trust me, you’ll need the energy. Even if it’s just a light breakfast or a few snacks, don’t skip it. You’ll thank yourself later, especially if you’re having a long wedding ceremony and a late meal.
Yes, there will probably be coffee. Maybe even champagne! But a little water in between is always a good idea. Staying hydrated will help keep you feeling fresh and energised for your wedding day celebrations.
First looks—whether with your partner, parents, or wedding party—are becoming more and more popular, and for good reason! If you’d like a first look with your dad, for example, we can arrange a quiet moment for him to see you in your dress for the first time. These moments can be incredibly emotional, so make sure to allow enough time and have tissues handy!
When I arrive, one of the first things I’ll do is capture your wedding details—things like rings, shoes, invitations, and perfume. If you can, have everything set aside in one spot. This could include:
A lovely way to start your wedding morning is by writing a letter to your partner or exchanging small gifts. Whether it’s a handwritten note, a keepsake, or something meaningful, this little gesture adds an extra layer of emotion to the morning and gives you a moment to pause and reflect before the day begins.
Directly before the ceremony, I recommend setting aside a few minutes of quiet time—just for you. Whether it’s a moment to yourself or a few hugs with your besties, this is such a beautiful time to take a deep breath and soak it all in before walking down the aisle.
However you want your wedding morning experience to feel—calm and quiet, full of laughter, music blasting, or just taking it all in—make it your own. This is the start of one of the best days of your life, so enjoy it in a way that feels right for you.
